Overview //
The eB product architecture is robust, scalable, fast, and above all, proven to provide unquestionable data integrity.
eB is implemented using state-of-the-art object-oriented technologies provided by Microsoft’s .NET framework. The eB architecture is multi-tier, with a clear separation of data, business logic, and presentation layers. As such, eB is highly distributed and componentized for flexibility and scalability in deployment. It is easy to configure eB to match the needs of practically any computing infrastructure.
eB is a commercial (COTS) solution that is designed for rapid deployment and requires no-to-minimal customization. eB is simple to administer and provides user access from anywhere, at any time, through a standard Web browser.
Since eB is built on the Microsoft Technology stack, eB seamlessly integrates with the Microsoft platform and applications (i.e. Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server).
Business Value
The business benefits of building eB on the Microsoft technology stack and delivering eB as a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) are substantial:
- Lower initial cost and better value – Enterprise-class applications built on the Microsoft technology stack offer a lower cost of entry and increased application integration for customers who have committed to a Microsoft infrastructure.
- Improves IT agility and responsiveness to the Business – A SOA architecture provides IT with the flexibility to deploy cost effectively and to respond quickly to the needs of the business.
- Lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) – SOA-based applications support cost reduction efforts that involve software and hardware consolidation.
- Fast, low cost integration with other SOA-based enterprise applications – Customers committed to SOA increase operational efficiency by simplifying integration points and ensuring information flow between business applications.

“One of the key limitations of MOSS records management is that it is not possible to declare records and check that declaration against multiple MOSS server installations due to the lack of server replication.
This architectural limitation has implications for legal and regulatory record keeping.”
- Gartner™
SharePoint provides features that make it easy to capture and collect information, providing users with a workspace that enhances collaboration, creativity, spontaneity, and intuitive problem solving. It is also a compelling platform upon which to build a powerful enterprise information management solution.
Seamlessly utilizing SharePoint within the eB Information Management solution gives eB incredible depth in its ability to manage the information life cycle, ensuring that information assets are governed, secure, controlled and can be trusted – and delivering relevant, trustworthy information, in context, to business users when they need it.
SharePoint enables eB to provide a seamless, user-accepted solution for collecting, publishing and reporting on information. SharePoint provides the ideal platform for easy and ubiquitous collection of information because it is accessible directly from the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
eB’s use of SharePoint is uniquely suited for the enterprise due to its ability to manage enterprise information across multiple Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) farms. eB’ auto-identification features tap into this information as it is created in SharePoint; uniquely identifying it, classifying it, and relating it to what it is about, and who can and cannot access this information. Centralized information can also be selected for collaborative access using SharePoint while adhering to the strictest compliance and governance criteria. Through eB’s ability to classify, relate and manage information through change, users can be assured that the information they access is relevant and accurate.
Finally, eB leverages SharePoint for its powerful search and reporting capabilities to provide management dashboards and detailed reports that support compliance status, project analytics and more. Dashboards and reports can quickly and easily be developed using SQL Server Reporting Services and SharePoint Report and Portal features.
Enterprise Informatics customers use eB to manage some of their most critical operational and regulatory information. When this information is exposed utilizing the SharePoint platform, it changes the perspective of SharePoint from a collaborative tool or document store to the central focus of their business operations.
eB‘s rich feature set leverages the SharePoint platform to enable our customers to create powerful Enterprise Information Management solutions that:
- Enrich collaboration
- Exploit the ease-of-use of SharePoint
- Extend their SharePoint investment into a long-term information and governance asset
eB and SharePoint Architecture
eB embraces Microsoft's .NET framework to form the foundation of its application server tier, web services and user interfaces. This architecture allows eB to easily integrate to other business applications built on the Microsoft technology stack.

This architecture makes it easy for our customers and system integrator partners to leverage eB functionality to create vertical applications that include information life cycle management features via a fully documented SDK (Software Developer Kit).
