eB for SharePoint with Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server builds bridges that create unparalleled visibility and control of information assets that span and must be governed by the enterprise, thus creating an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) solution using SharePoint.

eB for SharePoint demo presented at DEMOfall 08
The rapid adoption of Microsoft SharePoint is a great advantage to CIOs, information architects and compliance officers because it empowers end-users to organize and structure information into a common shared repository - information that before could only be discovered by scouring individual desktops -making it easier for corporate officers to search and locate information assets that are important to company operations and legal discovery.

SharePoint usage is now growing so fast that CIOs are increasingly concerned because they don’t have the necessary visibility or control of the sites and information assets to mitigate compliance-related business risk for the company.

It is their responsibility to define and enforce information policies, and in order to do so, they need visibility and control into:
Right Arrow What is being discussed, produced, and shared
Right Arrow Whether information is sensitive, confidential, and secure
Right Arrow If it is accurate and can be trusted to support business decisions, regulatory compliance, and legal discovery
Right Arrow Ultimately if the information should be governed by corporate policy and recorded

For compliance purposes, it is critical to have clearly defined and classified information. Organizations need to be able to provide compliance officers and auditors with evidence that their information policies are being followed and that the information can be trusted.

Through site governance, unique information modeling and advanced records management, eB for SharePoint enables enterprises to prove compliance, provide proper governance, make informed decisions, and comply with regulations and legal discovery.
  Sharepoint Capabilities

Organizing and Classifying SharePoint sites

Organizing and Classifying SharePoint sites   With eB for SharePoint you can discover, classify, and organize SharePoint sites in as many ways as needed to support enterprise information management requirements.

Existing sites can be registered with eB for SharePoint for corporate visibility
and a SharePoint site architect or administrator can establish site provisioning rules for new sites that are compliant with established information governance policy. Registered sites are treated like any other object in eB - they are classified, have unique attributes, and are associated with a site disposition/retention policy.

eB for SharePoint can automatically classify and assign attributes to a document or empower end-users to manually register (identify and classify) the document directly from the SharePoint user interface.

Users can browse other registered information assets which they have the proper permission levels to access.

Through the eB for SharePoint administrator’s dashboard you can produce a variety of reports that show all discovered sites, registered and unregistered sites, as well as registered documents and their status.
eB for SharePoint makes it possible to support provisioning wizards to provide a fast, straight-forward process for launching a new SharePoint site that is consistent with information governance policy.

Information Modeling, Classification and Relevance

eB for SharePoint provides a powerful information modeling capability that allows organizations to quickly and easily structure and organize their enterprise information assets.

eB’s predefined, ready-to-use information objects provide a rich model for classifying information and establishing relationships between relevant objects, ensuring the integrity of controlled information by uniquely managing its connectivity to all other relevant information.

Utilizing eB for SharePoint, it is easy to see who is responsible for information, what the information describes, where it is located (on a single site or multiple sites) and what it is related to.

eB for SharePoint ensures information integrity through a robust, built-in change management capability that manages the information assets and their relevant relationships through an automated best practice process that identifies the effects of change and manages the workflow for approvals, notifications, releases, distributions, and accountability of changes that occur enterprise-wide across multiple SharePoint sites/farms.
  Sharepoint Predefined Objects

Advanced Records Management

eB for SharePoint provides a powerful, centralized records management capability for registered sites and documents that automates the disposition (retention and destruction) and archiving process in order to adhere to corporate governance policies.

Registered information objects can be physically stored in the SharePoint libraries, in multiple SharePoint sites, moved to the eB repository or archived to secondary storage. eB for SharePoint registered documents can also be published to other SharePoint sites.
