Solutions for State, County and City Government

eB is used by state and local government organizations to streamline and automate business processes by managing the life cycle of inter-dependent information across the enterprise. Government organizations use eB to capture, distribute, change, track, record and authenticate information—making a considerable impact on productivity by eliminating redundancy and increasing worker efficiency. With eB, government organizations reduce the cost of meeting compliance requirements, minimize legal and business risk, improve decision-making, and optimize inter-department process efficiency.

Business Values

"Our vision is to further extend what we have achieved to date. . . to share information seamlessly with all parties and agencies both internal and external to MSD in order to better serve our community."

— Bruce Seigle, Chief Information Officer, MSD

In these trying economic times, Government organizations are seeking solutions that will lower operational cost and streamline business processes. With eB, government organizations realize the following benefits:

  • Information accuracy is vastly improved and can be trusted for business operations
  • Information modeling identifies who is responsible for information, what the information describes, where it is located and what it is related to, allowing faster and better informed business decisions
  • Automated classification of information enforces information governance, policies and controls
  • Powerful records management securely stores all paper and electronic records with defined retention and disposition rules to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Contextual search, retrieval, viewing, and printing of documents and records increases productivity and efficiency
  • Integration with other business applications streamlines processes and eliminates discreet, disparate repositories of information
  • IT costs are substantially reduced due to the decrease in the overall number of systems that must be supported

Recording, locating and providing information for legal purposes is a key benefit of eB.  Departmental time required to search, compile and prepare documents for court cases and other actions has been reduced from months in some cases, to mere minutes. Moreover, complying with statutory mandates has become nearly automatic, with built-in document scheduling and routing processes.

Applications

"The system is easy to use and makes document security and attribute searching simpler. With nearly two terabytes of information and more than seven million records eB has done its job."

— Scott Widney, eB application administrator, City of Las Vegas

Information capture and classification

With eB you can scan, classify and assign attributes to hardcopy information—such as books, maps and photographs—to align with a "paperless" strategy by creating a centralized digital document repository that every department can access.

Centralized information management

eB provides a centralized, secure information repository that enables input across all departments, and is accessible on a permission basis from any office or the field via rugged laptop computers or hand-held devices.

Authorized users can easily and quickly add document classifications and attributes. Conducting searches is fast and easy—and users can be assured that if a document related to the specific project, building, department or action is in the database, it will be found and it will be current.

eB provides automated workflow capability to streamline the distribution of information among government departments and agencies. eB provides access to the right information—when it is needed—in the right context.

Information modeling and governance

eB provides a powerful information modeling capability that allows organizations to quickly and easily structure and organize their enterprise information assets. eB predefined, ready-to-use information objects - documents, physical items, people, organizations, locations and projects - provide a rich model for building an information taxonomy, classifying information and establishing relationships between relevant objects.

Using eB it is easy to see who is responsible for information, what the information describes, where it is located and what it is related to.

eB enables the development an enterprise information architecture and information governance policies and provides a platform to support policy enforcement.

Advanced change management

eB ensures information integrity through a robust, built-in change management function that manages information assets and their relevant relationships through a best practice process that identifies the effects of change and automates the change process of approvals, notifications, releases and distributions for accountability and auditing.

Centralized records management

eB provides a powerful, centralized records management capability for enterprise-wide information assets that automates the disposition (retention and destruction) and archiving process in order to adhere to corporate governance and compliance policies.

eB for SharePoint

eB for SharePoint provides the means to discover, classify and organize SharePoint sites in as many ways as needed to support enterprise use. With eB for SharePoint, government organizations can define and enforce a SharePoint site governance policy, manage and control information across SharePoint silos and implement a powerful records management capability without impacting the ease-of-use for SharePoint users.

Open API's

eB is an SOA application, built entirely on Microsoft technology, and offers open API's to facilitate integration with the other core government applications (e.g. Infor/Hansen Enterprise Software). This allows streamlined operations and business processes - enabling the public sector to service more citizens and commercial entities with fewer resources.

Next Tab: Technology

Technology

Built upon an advanced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), eB uses the latest Microsoft technologies. Developed with the same technologies as SharePoint, eB embraces Microsoft's .NET framework to form the foundation of its application server tier, web services and user interfaces. This architecture allows eB to easily be integrated to other business critical applications.

eB is compatible with Windows 7 and certified for Windows Server 2008. Enterprise Informatics is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner.

The eB architecture is proven to be enterprise scalable and highly reliable, and offers the flexibility to adapt to the unique business requirements of a diverse customer base. eB is a highly effective solution for building bridges between SharePoint sites across the enterprise (eB for SharePoint) and other information repositories that are required to realize an effective EIM strategy.

Integration

eB  includes client-side integrations with popular CAD tools like AutoCAD and Microstation. A tight integration with Microsoft SharePoint provides an exceptional integration with Microsoft Office, including an Outlook Connector for Office 2007 that allows the user to save email messages as documents in eB. eB QuickLink provides an extremely powerful, yet simple to use foundation for integrating with other enterprise systems like ESRI/GIS.

In addition, a powerful API toolkit enables eB to be integrated with other applications that may already be in use. Integrations are typically achieved in days as opposed to weeks or months, ensuring a quick return on investment.

eB for Enterprise is certified by the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) as a four star Configuration Management software platform.
