Overview //
The Energy industry will see unprecedented infrastructure investment over the next few decades to address the issues of global supply and the trend towards eco-friendly alternative energy sources.
Government and industry investments will support the design and construction of new infrastructure while existing facilities will seek to improve operational efficiencies to lower cost and ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
Enterprise Informatics has decades of experience working with the energy industry, with primary focus on electric power generation and a significant presence in the Nuclear industry. Strong customer references are available within these sectors as well as oil & gas.
eB is used on the construction and commissioning phase of a facility by EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) firms to manage the complete information lifecycle of project-related activity – from the design engineering to complete construction and commissioning of the facility.
Once commissioned, eB provides a complete integrated suite of applications to operate and maintain the facility in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory mandates.

Applications
The renewable energy industry will see dramatic growth comprising of both alternative energy and sustainable energy companies, including those involved in hydroelectric power, wind power, nuclear power and solar power generation, and the manufacture, distribution and sale of petroleum and alternative fuels.

eB is used by Energy firms for enterprise information management throughout the life cycle of electrical generation plants.
The life cycle of these facilities includes licensing, construction, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning. eB captures, stores and manages structured data and unstructured content, including records, specifications, engineering drawings, procedures, reports, emails, design documents and licensing documents, and identifies and relates this content through object modeling to physical items such as equipment, systems, structures and components.
eB provides the core functionality to support the enterprise content management, configuration management and master data management needs of the Energy market. Solution features include:
- Business automation (workflow)
- Distribution management
- Enterprise information change management
- Measurement and managing impact of change
- Enterprise object modeling
- Records management
- Corrective action/action item tracking
eB for design engineering, procurement and construction
eB also provides a comprehensive project information management solution for EPC companies managing large complex construction projects, such as power generation plants. eB is used to manage the following business processes:
- Requirements management
- Project modeling
- Project information management/control
- Commitment tracking
- Project handover
- Project oversight
- Knowledge management

eB for facility operations, maintenance and compliance
From an operations and maintenance perspective, eB provides a rich foundation for a suite of applications that support the complete life cycle of an electric power facility.
eB and elements of the eB for Nuclear application suite are used by non-Nuclear electric power generation facilities (fossil, hydro-electric) and the governing Electric Utility. These applications are well suited to non-Nuclear facilities, though they were designed specifically for Nuclear power plants who face stringent regulatory requirements by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and adhere to the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Guidelines.
eB for Nuclear applications address the following business processes:
- Design basis requirements management
- Master equipment list (MEL) management
- Corrective action identification, tracking and management
- Observations; benchmarking; assessments; operating experience; trending
- Cable/Raceway management
- Plant configuration management
- Training requirements & qualification tracking
- Knowledge management capture

Technology
Built upon an advanced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), eB uses the latest Microsoft technologies. Developed with the same technologies as SharePoint, eB embraces Microsoft's .NET framework to form the foundation of its application server tier, web services and user interfaces. This architecture allows eB to easily be integrated to other business critical applications.
eB is compatible with Windows 7 and certified for Windows Server 2008. Enterprise Informatics is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner.
The eB architecture is proven to be enterprise scalable and highly reliable, and offers the flexibility to adapt to the unique business requirements of a diverse customer base. eB is a highly effective solution for building bridges between SharePoint sites across the enterprise (eB for SharePoint) and other information repositories that are required to realize an effective EIM strategy.
eB for Enterprise is certified by the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) as a four star Configuration Management software platform.

Customers
Energy Customers //
JEA
Initially used eB to manage the substation drawings. Since this time eB has been used to support documentation to support project schedules, invoices and other corporate documents. Most recently JEA procured eB for the corporation and the first initiative was the replacement of the IBM system that was managing the Human Resource records.
Northeast Utilities
Has a corporate license and uses eB to manage all of their documents for their materials and information management system the Ventyx Passport product. Other documentation that is managed are substation drawings and other engineering documents.
Premcor Valero
A refinery in Lima, Ohio that uses eB to manage all of their drawings. They are users of AutoCAD and leverage our CAD Connect product to manage their drawings.
Fayetteville PWC
Has been an eB user since early 2000 and used eB to manage the drawings and all associated documents for their water and sewer organization construction projects. Since that time eB has been procured by their electrical engineering organization and is now being used to manage their engineering modifications for the electrical department.
