Overview //
The life cycle of a nuclear facility requires strict governance to ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing commitments. The impact of non-compliance can cause an organization to be heavily burdened with costs from penalties, additional regulatory oversight, and customers’ concerns. In extreme cases non-compliance can result in a facility shutdown. eB for Nuclear consists of compliance applications applicable throughout a facilities life cycle. These legal obligations for the operation of a facility are identified in the approved licensing contracts from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). eB Licensing is an application that has supported the NuStart consortium for the creation of a Combined Operating License Agreements (COLAs) in addition to be being used to manage licenses, design basis baselines in operational nuclear facilities.
If you have a requirement to manage licensing, regulatory commitments, defense and renewal, nuclear project requirements, federal regulations and all facility requirements in the context of the nuclear life cycle then eB for Nuclear is a must have. Trust eB to manage your regulatory compliance needs by helping to establish and maintain requirements and commitments through automated business process efficiencies.

Compliance
for Nuclear licencing and requirements
Meet regulatory compliance requirements throughout the nuclear life cycle with eB.
Business Values
The legal operation of a facility is based on the agreed license guided by federal, stated and industry regulations to ensure safe operations of a facility. The inability to comply within the operating license and regulations will have significant cost implications to the company and could have safety implications to workers and the community. Nuclear facilities take great care to ensure they have governance policies in place for compliance. eB for Nuclear consists of a suite of applications that have been developed to comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practice guidelines.
Trustworthy information
The information managed at nuclear facilities share human, material and data resources across the complete enterprise. Within this highly regulated industry information is a important asset to the operation of a plant and it is critical that this information be trustworthy. Knowing that the information assets are trustworthy provides confidence in the information and this holds significant business value.
Visibility to information
eB’s ability to model information and build relationships between objects creates an ecosystem of relevant information that can be viewed in context. Increased visibility to critical information and high levels of data integrity reduces risk, increases safety, improves work efficiency and helps reduce outage times.
Proven solution for COLA
eB is being used by consortiums consisting of Power Utilities and Reactor Designers/Manufacturers who are brought together as virtual enterprises to jointly prepare, review and ultimately submit complete Construction and Operating License Applications (COLAs) for new plant builds to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). This is being supported on a global basis from a remote operations center. eB effectively serves as the collaboration portal while providing the enterprise information management features required to maintain security and accuracy.
Provide oversight for new plant construction
Nuclear Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies are using eB to manage large project requirements structures related to power generation and waste treatment facilities which are required to comply with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs). One key factor in maintaining cost and controlling schedules is to understand the impact that change may have on the bridged information, including compliance and regulatory requirements. eB’s intrinsic ability to produce change effects analyses ensures that the true impact to project timelines, quality requirements and costs are fully visible, allowing decisions to be made with clear understanding of their impact.
Design Basis available to operations and maintenance
Nuclear facility owner/operators are using eB for Nuclear to maintain and protect the Engineering Design Basis of their facilities as well as comply with day-to-day federal and regulatory requirements related to the operations, maintenance, safety/security and environmental impact requirements. The License Basis documents, fully integrated with the Master Equipment List (MEL), form the basis of maintaining the design baseline and providing compliance information throughout the nuclear life cycle.

Manage compliance and provide auditing throughout life cycle
eB for Nuclear customers see measurable value throughout the facility life cycle due to the fully integrated nature of the eB application suite. With increased oversight, tighter control of processes and visibility of change effects this leads to fewer findings during audits, assessments and inspections.

Applications
eB for Nuclear provides a powerful integrated framework of applications that is uniquely suited to the management of enterprise information related to the life cycle of nuclear power facilities.
Requirements modeling, classification and relationships
eB’s predefined, ready-to-use information objects provide a rich model for classifying information and establishing relationships between relevant enterprise objects, ensuring the integrity of controlled information by uniquely managing its connectivity to all other relevant information. Requirement management intensive processes, like the preparation and submission of COLAs, or overall Project Oversight for example, can be streamlined through these features.
Project document control
eB creates a rich environment for collaboration, ensuring the integrity and visibility of information using project based controls and security. It effectively, efficiently, and accurately captures, manages, controls, retrieves, distributes, and archives all document format types across the enterprise. Structured and unstructured data can be managed across multiple locations throughout the enterprise and the life cycle of the documents and records.
Action / Commitment tracking
eB's fully configurable built-in workflow capability allows automation of all actions and commitments on any eB information asset. Pre-defined workflow templates ensure consistency and conformance to meeting any licensing or project commitments and helps to improve business process efficiencies.
COLA process management
eB for Nuclear provides a solution for the management and review of the creation and approval of a Combined Operating License Application (COLA) consisting of multiple utility companies, license engineers and architectural engineering firms. To support this effort collaboration on a single system is required to meet the objective of getting approval for a new operating license.
